Operating System Login

The DW Blackjack Server products are configured to automatically log in users to the computer’s operating system for easy and immediate access. However, when the password is changed for the DWUSER account, the new password will need to be applied to allow auto-login to work.

This article will outline how to update the auto-login password for a DW Blackjack Server running Windows 10.

**NOTE:  The default OS login for DW Blackjack Servers is “DWUSER|Dw5pectrum”.

Supported/Affected Devices:

  • DW Blackjack Servers (Windows 10)

How to Update the Auto-Login Password

To update the auto-login password:

  1. Open the Start W menu and open Command Prompt as an Administrator.

  1. In the Command Prompt, enter the following to update the registry and update the option to disable the prompt for a username and password.

reg ADD “HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\PasswordLess\Device” /v DevicePasswordLessBuildVersion /t REG_DWORD /d 0 /f

  1. Open the Start W menu and search for “netplwiz”. Select the shortcut to run the command.

  1. In the resulting User Accounts window, enable the setting “Users must enter a user name and password to use this computer” for the DWUSER account. Click Apply and OK to save the changes.

This setting will allow the username and new password to be entered. We will uncheck it later to complete the auto-login setup.

  1. Next, open the Start W menu, click on the user account, and Sign Out of the system.

  1. From the login screen, enter the new password and log back in to the DWUSER account again.

  1. Open the Start W menu and run “netplwiz” again.

  1. Uncheck the setting “Users must enter a user name and password to use this computer” for the DWUSER account then click “Apply”.

You will be prompted to enter the auto-login credentials for the system. Enter and confirm the new password then click OK.

  1. Click OK to close the User Accounts window. The auto-login password change process is complete and the next time that the machine is booted, it will automatically log into Windows.
