IP Speaker Device Support
DW Spectrum IPVMS supports the addition of external IP speakers to DW Spectrum Systems through a local network connection. Once added to a System, users can send audio-out through the IP speaker from the DW Spectrum Desktop Client.
Supported/Affected Devices:
- DW-SWSP15 (15-watt)
- DW-SWSP30M (30-watt)
Configuring the IP Speaker
Before the IP speaker can be added to the DW Spectrum Server, the IP address of the speaker must be changed from its default setting to allow DW Spectrum IPVMS to detect the device.
To initially configure the IP speaker:
- Attach one end of an ethernet cable to the rear panel of the horn speaker and the other end to a PoE switch or power-injector to power the speaker ON.
- Next, use a computer to connect with the IP speaker through a network connection. You may need to temporarily change the IP address used by the computer’s NIC (Network Interface Card) to communicate with the speaker.
Open a web browser and enter the default IP address of the speaker.
Log in to the device once you have connected.
- Default Username – admin
- Default Password – admin
- Default IP Address – 192.168.5.200
- Default Subnet Mask – 255.255.255.0
- Default Gateway – 192.168.5.1
**NOTE: The administrator password must be changed during the initial installation/setup of the speaker.
- After logging in to the speaker, select the “Network” tab.
In the Network menu, change the “IP Address” of the speaker to match the correct subnet ID of the camera network to the DW Spectrum Server.
For example, if the IP cameras are using an IP scheme of “192.168.100.x”, then the speaker should be set to a similar address. Do not set the speaker to use the same exact IP address as an existing camera.
Click the “Save” button when finished.
You will lose connection with the speaker as it changes its IP address. Change the computer’s NIC settings back as needed.
- If performed correctly, the DW Spectrum Server will automatically detect and add the IP speaker (default setting). Otherwise, the speaker can be added using the same methods as any IP camera.
Allowing Authentication Credentials
A red lock icon will display for the IP speaker if its authentication credentials have not been set in DW Spectrum. Until authentication is provided, the speaker cannot be utilized by DW Spectrum.
To set the authentication credentials using the DW Spectrum Desktop Client:
- Right-click on the IP speaker in the Resource Tree and select “Camera Settings”.
- In the Authentication section, click the “Edit Credentials” button.
In the resulting window, enter the “Login” (username) and “Password” for the IP speaker.
Click the “OK” button to apply the updated credentials and close the Authentication credentials window.
Click the “OK” button to save and close the Camera Settings window.
**NOTE: If the Username or Password is ever changed in the IP speaker’s settings, then the authentication credentials must be subsequently updated for DW Spectrum as well.
- The IP speaker can now be utilized by DW Spectrum.
A microphone will need to be connected to the computer to speak through the speaker.
Open the device in the Viewing Area of the DW Spectrum Client and hold down the soft trigger button (microphone symbol) to transmit audio output.
