-----------------------------------
All devices come with a predefined login and password. During the auto discovery process, DW Spectrum® attempts to use Digital Watchdog’s default login credentials (admin/admin) to access devices and acquire media streams.
However, if a connected camera is using customized login credentials or different default login credentials, video streaming will become unavailable as the security authentication settings of the DW Spectrum® system will not match that of the device.
This article will outline how to change the authentication credentials in DW Spectrum® for a detected camera.
Note: If you are using a new MEGApix camera and have not assigned a new password to the device, please read Assigning Passwords to MEGApix Cameras.
If the username and password of a device does not match the default authentication settings of DW Spectrum® (admin/admin), the deviceis shown as “Unauthorized” and a notification symbol in the Resource Tree will be displayed. Attempting to display video streams from an unauthorized device will result in an error message.
- Authentication Error
- No Signal
Note: If you are changing authentication credentials for multiple devices, you may configure multiple cameras at once. To do so, hold CTRL and left-click on your desired cameras. Be aware that all selected cameras will be assigned to the same login credentials if left selected.
From this window enter the new Login and Password of the camera.
Note: It is recommended to use “Admin” for the Login of MEGApix® IP Cameras.
Once satisfied with the updated credentials, click the OK button to close the popup, then click the Apply button to save the changes.
