Similar to keeping a video recorder up to date, it is recommended to ensure that camera firmware is kept up-to-date to mitigate video loss, camera discovery issues, and other operational problems. Additionally, this method can be used to flash the firmware of the camera for troubleshooting purposes.
This article will outline how to upgrade firmware for a MEGApix camera through its web client.
Note: The images provided may appear differently for your camera, depending on the camera model.
To update camera firmware:
Open a web browser and visit http://digital-watchdog.com.
Enter the camera model into the search bar, then download the latest firmware version from the camera’s product page. The file can be located under the Software tab of the camera’s product page.
Enter the camera’s IP address into the browser’s address bar. If the camera has been assigned to a network port value of anything other than 80, you will need to specify the port value in the address bar as well.
Example:
Camera IP: 192.168.1.90
Port: 8245
Example URL: http://192.168.1.90:8245
If you have not set up a new Username and Password yet, use:
Note: DW cameras now require a password assignment when initially connecting with the camera. For more information, please read Assigning Passwords to IP Cameras.
Click the Upload Firmware button or the Choose File button, then select the firmware file from your computer.
Allow the system to complete the upgrade process. Once the camera has finished updating, the device will reboot.
