AXIS C8110 Audio Bridge Compatibility

Some users may desire to mix analog and network audio from multiple devices using an AXIS C8110 Network Audio Bridge device. When applied to the official release of DW Spectrum IPVMS 5.0.0.36529 and earlier, this device may not function on its own.

To resolve this compatibility issue, the DW Spectrum developers have provided a JSON resource that can be implemented to the DW Spectrum Server.

This article will outline where to copy the JSON file in the DW Spectrum Server folder to implement this fix.

**NOTE:  Making changes to the core files and configurations of the DW Spectrum Server files is not recommended unless necessary to resolve a specific issue. Please consult with your Digital Watchdog service representative or with DW Support for clarification if you are unsure if this fix applies to your needs or to an ongoing issue.

Downloading the File

Use the link below to obtain the JSON file.

Applying the JSON File to DW Spectrum Server

After downloading the JSON file from the link above follow the instructions below to implement this fix.

  1. If the AXIS C8110 network audio bridge is already added to the DW Spectrum Server and appears within its Resource Tree (left-panel of the client), remove the device from the DW Spectrum Server.
    1. Right-click on the device in the Resource Tree and select “Delete” to remove the device.
    2. If the device is automatically re-discovered, you can disable the autodiscovery feature in the “System Administration > General > System Settings” menu. Be sure to reactivate this setting upon completing this guide as needed.
  2. STOP the mediaserver application.
    1. For Windows – Right-click on the ‘DW’ icon that appears in the Windows system try and select “Stop Server (started)”.

        • DW Blackjack units sold with Ubuntu 16.04 – admin
        • DW Blackjack units sold with Ubuntu 18.04, 20.04 – Dw5pectrum
      2. Once root administrator rights have been gained, use the command:

service digitalwatchdog-mediaserver stop

  1. Copy and paste the downloaded files into the following folder locations.
    1. resource_data.jsonfile location:
      • For Windows – C:\Program Files\Digital Watchdog\DW Spectrum\MediaServer
      • For Ubuntu Linux – /opt/digitalwatchdog/mediaserver/bin/

  1. Start the mediaserver application again.
    1. For Windows – Right-click on the media server icon that appears in the Windows system tray and select “Start Server (stopped)”.
    2. For Ubuntu Linux – In the Terminal application and as the root administrator, use the command:
