ALPR Stream Integration
DW’s integration partner, Plate Recognizer (ALPR), provides license plate recognition software to their customers that can be integrated with DW Spectrum Systems.
This article will outline how to integrate the ALPR product with DW Spectrum IPVMS.
**NOTE: For more information about Plate Recognizer, you can visit the Plate Recognizer integration page here: DW Spectrum ALPR Integration | Plate Recognizer ALPR
Integration Method 1: Connect ALPR Stream with DW Spectrum
The first recommended integration method that ALPR has is to install their Stream software on the host machine then run their Stream – DW Spectrum integration software to forward Webhook Events from the Stream program to DW Spectrum as Alerts.
Integration Method 2: Using Plate Rec Cloud
Alternatively, users can use ALPR’s Plate Recognizer web service to integrate with DW Spectrum.
Part 1 – Connect Plate Recognizer with DW Spectrum
- Sign up on Plate Recognizer using a web browser, then navigate to App > VMS Integrations > DW Spectrum.
Click the Yes button to request a free trial integration with DW Spectrum.
- Once the free trial has been approved, navigate to Apps > VMS Integrations and click on the Settings button for DW Spectrum.
- Enter the Username and Password of the local DW Spectrum Server account. The account must have the Digest Authentication setting enabled in DW Spectrum.
- Enter the DW Spectrum Server URL and Country Code(s).
A full list of Country Codes for Plate Recognizer can be found here.
Part 2 – Configure Cameras in Plate Recognizer

You will need to configure two (2) Event Rules in DW Spectrum for each camera that is added to Plate Recognizer.

- Next, click the + Add button and create a Motion Detection rule by configuring the following:
Event
- When – select “Motion on Camera”.
- At – select the cameras that have been added to Plate Recognizer.
Action
- Do – select “Do HTTP(S) request”.
- Interval of action – set as no more than once per 60 seconds.
- HTTP(S) URL – enter https://app.platerecognizer.com/integration/receive_nx_event/.
- HTTP(S) Content – enter the Camera_UID.
