Starfield Root Certificate Authority – G2
DW Spectrum Servers experiencing connection problems through DW Cloud, after upgrading to Version 5.0, may be due to security certificate issues.
In addition to needing to certify the ISRG Root X1 security certificate (see Related Articles below), there are two certificates that are cross-signed with each other for authentication:
- Starfield Root Certificate Authority – G2 Windows Security Certificate
- Amazon Root CA 1 Windows Security Certificate
Windows system updates will generally include these. However, the Starfield Root Certificate Authority – G2 certificate file may be missing in some rare cases and will need to be installed.
This article will outline how to install the Starfield Root Certificate Authority – G2 security certificate on a Windows system.

Installing the Certificate
To install the Starfield certificate:
- Download the Starfield certificate.
Copy the security certificate to the DW Spectrum Server computer.
- Open the sfroot-g2 file and click on “Install Certificate”.
- Select “Local Machine” and click on “Next”.
If a pop-up appears asking to confirm permission to allow changes to take place, allow the system to continue.
- Select “Place all certificates in the following store” and click the Browse button.
Select the “Trusted Root Certification Authorities” folder and click “OK”.
Click “Next” to proceed.
- The Certificate Import Wizard will display a summary before importing the security certificate. Click the Finish button to apply.
Restart the Server computer after the Starfield Root Certificate Authority – G2 security certificate has been imported to complete this process.
