IVA Event Alarms

As a standalone NVR, the VMAX IP Plus is equipped to perform not just as a recording device, but also as an alarm device.  This NVR can be configured to utilize connected MEGApix IVA/IVA+ cameras as trigger devices for alarms or specified events.  For example, if a person is being tracked and through an Intrusion zone, the VMAX IP Plus can alert users and will log the event within its archive.

This article will outline how to set up IVA Event Alarms with a VMAX IP Plus.

**NOTE:  When using a MEGApix IVA/IVA+ IP camera, analytic rules must be configured within the camera’s web client through a web browser.  If analytic rules are not configured within the camera at the time of a target event, the VMAX IP Plus will not be able to register such occurrences as desired.

IVA Event Settings

When a MEGApix IVA/IVA+ camera is connected to the VMAX IP Plus, the system will display “IVA Event” at the bottom of the camera’s channel.   The camera’s display will include the existing camera rules if enabled, but will require some minor setup for the VMAX IP Plus.

Enabling IVA Camera Settings

To enable and manage IVA Event settings:

  1. Log in to the VMAX IP Plus as the Administrator (admin).

After logging in to the VMAX IP Plus, right-click on the IVA camera channel with the mouse and select “Camera Setup”.

  1. The IP Camera Setup window will display.

Select the Channel of the IVA camera for configuring, then click the IVA Event button.

**NOTE:  If the IVA EVENT button does not display with the connected camera, click the “Get Stream” button, the click the “Apply” button. This will cause the IP Camera Setup menu to refresh and reload the menu.

  1. An IVA Event settings window will display.

Enable the Use setting to unlock the analytic features.

If you would like for additional OSD (on-screen-display) information to display for the camera, you may also enable the following:

  • Show Object Area – enable this setting to show detected objects or people that are being tracked by the MEGApix IVA camera
  • Show Object Trail – enable this setting to show the motion tracking path of detected objects or people that are being tracked by the MEGApix IVA camera
  • Show Object ID – enable this setting to show the object identification tag as configured within the MEGApix IVA camera
  • Show Event Area – enable this setting to show the designated detection zones as configured within the MEGApix IVA camera
  • Show Rule Area – enable this setting to show special rule areas as configured within the MEGApix IVA camera

**NOTE:  The settings Show Object Area and Show Event Area are limited to only one of these two being enabled at a time.  If both of these settings are enabled, then the areas may not display as desired through the NVR.

  1. Click the Close button to exit the IVA Event settings window, then click the Apply button to save the settings for the camera.

Repeat this process (Step 3 – Step 4) for any remaining MEGApix IVA cameras as needed.

Using the IVA Event Alarm Manager

After enabling the IVA camera settings, you can set IVA Event Alarms for the VMAX IP Plus.  To do so:

  1. Open the Camera Setup menu for the IVA camera.

Select the Channel of the IVA camera for configuring, then click the IVA Event button.

  1. An IVA Event settings window will display.

Click the Alarm Manager Settings button.

  1. The IVA Event – Alarm Manager window will display.

From this window, you can set up event alarms, specifically for IVA events.  Click and enable the Use setting.

Select a slot from the list and configure the following:

  • Name – enter a name for the event alarm
  • Type – use the drop-down and select the type of IVA type that will trigger the Event Alarm
  • Channel (CH) – enable the “CH” toggle and select which camera channel this alarm will be assigned to; alarms can be assigned to channels other than the channel to which the camera is connected as well
  • Popup – enable this setting to have the VMAX IP Plus automatically display the designated camera channel for this alarm rule if the event triggers
  • Buzzer – enable this setting to have the VMAX IP Plus emit an audio alert if the event triggers
  • Relay – enable this setting to have the VMAX IP Plus trigger its relay function; set the time duration (in seconds) for the relay trigger
  • Notify – between Remote, E-Mail, and Mobile, select a notification type to have the VMAX IP Plus send external alerts if the event triggers

**NOTE:  When using the Notify option, “Meta Data” must be selected for the NVR’s Remote Notification settings.  This is configured when setting up remote notifications for the NVR.  Please consult the VMAX IP Plus User Manual for notification setup if needed.

  1. Once you have finished configuring the IVA Event Alarm(s), click the “Edit” button, then click the Apply button to save the settings.

Click the “Close” button to close the window. The IP Camera Setup window will display again.

Click the “Close” button again to save the changes and close the Setup menu.
