Searching For Video By Analytic Event (VMAX® IP Plus™)

Video Analytic Events

The VMAX® IP Plus™ can be used to search for specific sections of footage by individual event.  When combined with the MEGApix® IVA+™ analytic technology, users can search for video by the type of analytic event that occurred.  For example, searching footage related to trespassers in a designated area.

This article will outline how to set up the IVA Event feature to better search through the video archive of the VMAX® IP Plus™ for previously recorded video that was captured as a result of triggering an analytic event.

 

**NOTE:  When using a MEGApix® IVA/IVA+™ IP camera, analytic rules must be configured within the camera’s web client through a web browser.  If analytic rules are not configured within the camera at the time of a target event, the VMAX® IP Plus™ will not be able to register such occurrences.

Searching for Analytic Events

When using VMAX® IP Plus™ to search through footage:

  1. Log in to the VMAX® IP Plus™ as an Administrator or as a role with search permissions.
    • Default User:  admin
    • Default PW:  <no password>

 

  1. After logging in to the VMAX® IP Plus™, right-click with the mouse and select “Special Cam Search”, then select “IVA Event”.

 

**NOTE:  The camera must support video analytic functionality for this feature to work.

 

  1. The IVA Event Search window will display.

To narrow the search results of an IVA analytics event, specify the Start Date and End Date of the search.

Selecting an IVA Event type from the Event drop-down list (i.e. Intrusion, Line Crossing, etc.) will further narrow the search results.

Click the Search button to apply the search filters.

 

  1. Search results will be displayed in the list below the search settings.

You can select an event from the list, then select either Play, Play All Channels, or View Live Mode to view a video related to the triggered event.  Alternatively, you may double-click on a listed event from the list to view as well.

 

To search for Analytic Events Through the Web Viewer:

  1. Open a web browser and connect with the recording unit’s Web Viewer.
    • To connect with Web Viewer, enter the NVR’s IP Address or DDNS Address into the browser’s URL bar.

URL Template – http://<IP Address>:<Web Port>

Example - http://192.168.1.80:82

 

  1. Once connected, login as the Administrator for the recorder.
    • Default User ID:  admin
    • Default PW:  <no password>

 

 

  1. Once logged in, click on the “Setup” tab at the top of the window.
    • The System Status menu will display. Next, click on the “Log” tab, then select the “VIDEO ANALYTICS LOG” menu.
    • Click on the "SEARCH" button
