Video Search/Playback

The Search and Playback video features of the VMAX® A1 Plus allows users to review video recordings directly at the recording system.  In order to do this, it is required to have a display monitor and USB mouse directly connected to the DVR.

This article will outline how to perform a video playback and a video search directly at the VMAX® A1 Plus recording unit.

Supported/Affected Devices:

  • VMAX® A1 Series
  • VMAX® A1 Plus Series
  • VMAX® A1 G4™ Series

**Note:  To utilize the Playback or Search features, you must be logged in as the Administrator or as a user that has been configured with Playback or Search permissions.

Playback Function

The Playback feature allows users to quickly review footage with options to view the recordings ranging from 10 seconds ago to five (5) minutes ago.  This option can be best utilized when performing periodic checks to see if the recording unit has experienced a recording interruption.

To use the Playback feature at the recording unit:

  1. From Live Mode, right-click in the viewing area and select “Instant Playback”.

  1. Select how far back from the current time that you would like to review footage.  Your options range from 10 seconds to five (5) minutes back from the current time.

  1. The VMAX® system will then enter Playback Mode.  Use the Timeline to navigate through the footage while reviewing your recorded footage.

Coloration on the Timeline signifies that video was captured, as well as the type of recording that was captured.

  1. To exit Playback Mode and return to viewing a live camera feed, right-click with the mouse and select “Live Mode”.

Search Function

The Search function allows users to specify a point in time to begin reviewing recorded footage.  This option is best utilized when seeking a specific section of footage.

To use the Search feature at the recording unit:

  1. From the Live Mode, right-click in the viewing area and select “Search”.

  1. Next, select the method of footage search that you would like to use.  For example, if you have a specific time in mind, select “Date/Time”.

From the resulting window, colored dates signify that video was recorded on that day.  Select the date and specify the time of the desired footage, then click the OK button.
