Bulk Assignment

Adding cameras can be a time consuming process, especially if the cameras need to be assigned to an IP Address scheme that differs from the default settings.

DW IP Finder simplifies this process with a Bulk IP Assignment function that allows you to change the IP Address of several Digital Watchdog IP Cameras all at once.

Note:  DW IP Finder is only supported by Windows operating systems.

Note:  Please be aware that IP Finder will only be able to find Digital Watchdog brand cameras.

Supported / Affected Devices:

  • Digital Watchdog IP Cameras
  • Spectrum Servers

Assigning IP Addresses:

1) Open the DW IP Finder tool.

DW BlackJack (Windows OS) servers should already have DW IP Finder installed. If you need to update or install DW IP Finder, you can acquire the latest version from the DW IP Finder product page, under the Software tab.

2) Set your Network setting to scan the NIC that is communicating with the camera network and click Scan Devices.  DW IP Finder will then display the detected Digital Watchdog devices as you designated.

3) Check the box next to each camera that you wish to affect and click Bulk IP Assignment to continue.

In the popup menu, set the start and end range that you wish to set the cameras' IP Addresses to, enter the gateway for that network, enter the camera login (default: admin/admin), and click Assign.

Note:  The quantity of the IP Addresses must be the same as the quantity of devices that will be assigned addresses.

If there is a conflict with another device that is already using an IP Address within the IP Address Range, DW IP Finder will inform you.

4) The program will inform you when the IP assignment has been completed for each camera.  Scan Devices with IP Finder again to confirm that all of the cameras were assigned IP Addresses.  Once complete, you may proceed with adding the cameras to your server.
