V-Class Camera Series and VMAX IP Recorder OSD Time Fix

-----------------------------------

Affected Products: VMAX IP Plus (Gen 3) | VMAX IP G4 | DWC-VSTB04Mi | DWC-VSTB04Bi | DWC-VSBD04Bi | DWC-VSDG04Bi | DWC-VSTB04BiB

Release Date: February 20, 2025

-----------------------------------

Time & Date Issues

When a camera is directly connected to the embedded PoE switch of a VMAX IP Plus or VMAX IP G4 recorder, rebooting the NVR will cause the camera to reset as well. Being that the V-Class camera series models do not have a CMOS battery, the camera will require the NVR to synchronize its time settings correctly upon regaining power.

If not configured properly, the OSD (on screen display) and internal time of the camera will be incorrect and display as:

01/01/2010 XX:XX:XX

**NOTE: This issue only occurs when the camera is connected directly to the VMAX NVR’s embedded PoE switch. Each time mode set on the camera will be affected unless the following instructions are followed.

Solution: Configure the Camera’s NTP Settings

To resolve this problem, administrators can use the camera’s web client and the VMAX recorder’s setup menu to configure time synchronization between devices.

To do so:

  1. Using a web browser, connect to the V-Class camera’s web page and navigate to the Time Mode settings:

SYSTEM > DATE and TIME > Time Mode

  1. Select “Synchronize with the NTP server” and enter the VMAX NVR’s IP address.

Save the changes.

  1. Meanwhile, at the VMAX NVR, navigate to:

SYSTEM > INFORMATION > DATE/TIME

For the setting, configure the following:

  • Time Sync Mode/Cycle – set as “Server”
  • Sync Port – set as the default VMAX NTP Port (8002)

  1. Save the changes.

Now when the VMAX NVR reboots, the connected V-Class camera(s) will reconnect with the same time and date as the NVR.
