Creating An Event Rule in DW Spectrum® IPVMS

To use an analytic Event Rule in DW Spectrum® IPVMS in coordination with a MEGApix® IVA/IVA+™ camera, the IVA analytic rule must also be configured within the camera itself.

For more information on creating an IVA analytic rule on a camera, please use the MEGApix IVA+ Analytics article that best applies.

To create an Event Rule in DW Spectrum® IPVMS:

  1. In the DW Spectrum® Client, click on the Main Menu, then select System Administration.

  1. The System Administration menu will display.

From the General tab, click on Event Rules.

  1. The Event Rules list will display.

To create a new rule, click the +Add button.

In the Event section, configure the following:

    • When – select Analytics Event
    • At – select the IVA/IVA+™ camera(s) that will be generating the analytics for the rule.
    • Event Type – choose the type of analytic event that will trigger the rule.  The analytic Event Type that you select must be configured on the camera to be detected by DW Spectrum®.
    • Caption Contains – optional class value used to identify object type and will only allow the Event Rule to trigger if the entered keywords match the caption. It is recommended to leave this field blank to allow the event to always trigger.
    • Description Contains – optional attribute value used to distinguish objects within a class and will only allow the Event Rule to trigger if the entered keywords match the caption. It is recommended to leave this field blank to allow the event to always trigger.

  1. In the Action section, configure the following:
  • Do – choose the result of the Event Rule.  For example, by selecting “Show Desktop Notification”, DW Spectrum® will display a notification in the Notification Panel when the analytic alarm triggers on the camera
  • Interval of Action – enable this setting and set the limit of how frequently to allow the system to perform the Do action of the triggered rule
  • To (Users) – click this button to select one or more user roles that will receive notifications from the triggered rule

  1. After configuring the rule, click the Apply button to save the Event Rule.  The Event Rule will then appear in the Event Rules list.

Click the OK button to close the Event Rules window.
