Real Time Streaming Protocol (RTSP)

The Real Time Streaming Protocol (RTSP) is used to establish connection between IP cameras and the receiving device, when communicating and streaming video.

Digital Watchdog’s Compressor Series allows users to stream analog video from analog security cameras through the network using RTSP.  This is useful when a user wants to monitor their camera streams from an NVR, but the cameras only output an analog video signal.

This article will outline how to manually add a Compressor (960H) to the VMAX IP Plus using RTSP.

Supported/Affected Devices

  • DW VMAX IP Plus Series
  • DW-CP04 (4-channel Compressor)
  • DW-CP16 (16-channel Compressor)

Manually Adding the Compressor Through RTSP

  1. In the RTSP 1st URL box, enter the RTSP address of the compressor’s camera.  The RTSP 2nd URL may be left blank.
