The Digital Watchdog Compressor™ (DW-CPUHD16) uses H.264 compression in the communication of camera video to various recorders and receivers. By allowing video frames to be inserted between I-Frames, the information required to represent a video stream is reduced.
In addition, the use of a Compressor™ translates analog camera video to an IP network, allowing users to add analog camera streams to an NVR server.
When adding a Compressor™ to DW Spectrum®, the device might show that it was added to the DW Spectrum® Server as a VMAX recording model.
A common cause of this issue is how the Server identifies the Compressor™ when the device is automatically or manually to DW Spectrum®.
This guide will explain how to re-add the Compressor™ to DW Spectrum® using the Auto Discovery feature, as well as how to re-add the Compressor™ manually.
This method will explain how to delete and re-add the Compressor™ using the Auto Discovery feature of DW Spectrum®.
The device should be re-added correctly.
Ensure that the Login and Password matches the ID and Password login that is used for the Compressor™ (Default: admin / --- (blank)).
Make any necessary changes, then apply the settings. If the authorization issue persists following the changes, close and re-launch the DW Spectrum® Client.
DW Spectrum® should now identify the Compressor™ correctly and allow users to monitor video streams from the analog cameras.
Re-apply any Recording Licenses to the Compressor’s cameras as necessary.
This method will explain how to delete and re-add the Compressor™ manually to DW Spectrum®.
Take note of the Compressor’s IP Address, then close the Camera Settings menu.
**NOTE: Following images may vary from your settings. In this example, the IP Address is 192.168.100.131, using Port 80.
Enter the Login and Password of the Compressor™ (Default: admin / --- (blank)).
Disable the Auto / Default port option. In the Discovery Port box, enter 8080, then click the Scan button.
**NOTE: Use Port 8080, regardless of the Network Port value the Compressor™ has been assigned to.
DW Spectrum® should now identify the Compressor™ correctly and allow users to monitor video streams from the analog cameras.
If you are unable to view the cameras after manually re-adding the Compressor™, close the DW Spectrum® Client, stop and restart the Server, then relaunch the DW Spectrum® Client.
Re-apply any Recording Licenses to the Compressor’s cameras as necessary.
